Wessex Water replace Activated Carbon filter with PpTek system

Avonmouth Waste Water Treatment Works, Bristol, UK.

Having fitted an Activated Carbon (AC) system some four years ago, Wessex Water has chosen the regenerative PpTek system to replace their Siloxa Engineering AC filter.
As costs for replacing the AC have continued to increase, Wessex Water decided to make the change which corresponds with a planned increase of gas production via a new anaerobic digestion process.
Avonmouth is the largest WwTW site operated by Wessex Water, producing enough gas to power 5 x CAT engines. PpTek will install one of their largest filters a BGAK 5000 to clean the gas.
Bill Cowing , PpTek’s Commercial Director, commented “ We have seen a significant number of customers replacing their AC filters with the PpTek system recently due to the rising costs of media replacement and operational complexity. This is definitely a trend as we expect many other customers to follow in the coming months”
